The Chains are not familiar to me, but maybe you had to grow up in El Paso, where, as far as I can as I can ascertain, they were as big as The Beatles. They sure look like fun though. See their tour manager smoke on the edge of a water fall and a hilarious phone call after the jump. All images come from Tor Pinney’s personal site.

The Chains were far better than their pictures would lead you to believe. You should take a listen to their CD, available thru many outlets.
I did not grow up in El Paso, but in Larchmont, NY, where I went to high school with three guys from the band.
They were called The Dolphins then, and had a regional hit with a song called ‘Surfin’ East Coast.’ College took them to the southwest where they formed that new group.
By the way, Tor Pinney would go on to perform with the road companies of Tommy and Jesus Christ Superstar, and when the song Na-Na-Na-Hey Hey came out, he was enlisted to form the touring group of Steam, because there was no real Steam.
And that’s your Rock 101 lesson for the day.
